Learning The Crossfit Movements: Front Squat
The front squat is a variation of the air squat, except now we are adding load to the movement.
Due to the fact that an athlete is required to rest a barbell securely on their shoulders, the use of the upper body becomes an additional piece to this movement.
Traditionally, a barbell is the preferred piece of equipment used in a traditional front squat, however, dumbbells or kettle bells can be used as an option when loading this movement.
The “front rack” position that is required when performing a proper front squat, carries over into other movements such as the clean, push press, jerk or strict press.
